Taco-Topped Baked Potato

This isn't really a recipe per se, but it is delicious! And if you use baking potatoes (the larger ones) you can get by with 1/3 to 1/2 of a potato per person.

Taco-Topped Baked Potato
serves 4

4 baked potatoes (or 2 large baking potatoes)
1 lb taco meat
shredded cheddar cheese
shredded lettuce
green onion, thinly sliced
tortilla chips, crushed
sour cream
salsa

Like I said, it's not really a recipe but another way to dress your baked potato to make it a meal on it's own. I served fresh sweet corn with our Taco-Topped Baked Potatoes. Yum!!

What's taco meat? Is it like thin strips of beef / pork like shoarma?

We now have a 'new dish' in Holland called 'hair saloon' (because it was ordered at a turkish place by someone from a hairsaloon very often and people started copying it..)

It's basically an aluminum tray filled with shoarma meat, topped with french fries, topped with cheese, put in the oven for a while and then topped with some iceberg lettuce

Pure madness if you ask me (because, for one, the fries get soggy!) but it's all the rage around here.. ;)

Greetings from the netherlands!

Hi Linda!

First of all, taco meat is ground beef (we use 93% lean) cooked with taco seasoning (comes in a packet or you can make your own).

Second, any dish with that includes the word "hair" in the title doesn't sound appetizing. And I bet the soggy fries don't help either. Funny the stuff that becomes popular. ;)
